cannes-film-festival Cannes Film Festival: Quai Sud’s gourmet selection

From May 16 to 27, 2023, the cinema puts on a show on the Croisette during the 76rd Cannes Film Festival 😎. This is an opportunity for Quai Sud to highlight the delicious recipes of some of the famous films in the history of cinema! Bring these tasty recipes up to date with Quai Sud products, and discover all that you can taste while making a canvas. Engine running! 📣

Iconic cinema recipes

Before sitting down to eat, let's have an aperitif! We fall for the mojito Well done by Penelope Cruz in Back and Al Pacino's tasty piña colada in Scarface, two exotic cocktails that you can reproduce in the blink of an eye with our cocktail mixes. Of course, we can't talk about aperitifs at the cinema without mentioning the Martini Dry of the most famous of spies! A safe bet shaken in a shaker, served in all the opuses of James Bond since 1962 🍸.

We then attack the main course with a chic and delicate recipe, that of cabbage stuffed with salmon from Catherine Frot in The flavors of the palace, a film and a recipe inspired by the experience of Mitterrand's chef at the Elysée. Then we taste recipes from legendary films : polpetti with tomato sauce from Clemenza in The Godfather (or in The Lady and the Tramp if you have a more romantic soul), and the roast boar of the banquet that closes each episode ofAsterix and Obelix. To revisit with our delicious spice blends .

Finally, we cannot overlook two emblems of our gastronomy and French cinema:

  • The perfect fries You that (which will soon delight us in a 5rd pane), to be enjoyed with a Homemade Ketchup,
  • Dany Boon's Maroilles toast in Welcome to the Sticks, dipped in a delicious Cafe Quai Sud to soften the intense flavor of the cheese 🧀.

Our gourmet selection of cinema desserts

Desserts have a full place in our gourmet selection of the Cannes Film Festival, starting with chocolate desserts 🍫. Gourmet and regressive, we find cocoa in all its forms in many films: Forrest Gump, Chocolate, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… The chocolate prints the film and we want more 🎞!

Among our favorite cinema desserts, we noted the pancakes with the juice of Tanned ski for their simplicity (the dough, the juice and that's it), and the rum baba from Babette's Feast, a little marvel of delicacy drizzled with a vanilla syrup with citrus zest 😋. But the monument of cinema desserts is undoubtedly the Septimius pyramid of Grand Restaurant, a cake of cream puffs and exotic fruits that Louis de Funès flambéed in an… explosive way.

In these desserts, we find a touch of vanilla to flavor the preparation with as much delicacy as gluttony. And then there is the rum, in more or less large quantities (but always to be consumed in moderation) to spice things up. Two specialties that you will find at Quai Sud to stage a dessert that bursts the screen.

We make a web: what are we eating?…

Cannes Film Festival or not, when you decide to make yourself a canvas, it's always with a little snack, just to make the film even better. First, we settle down. In a dark room all year round, with a mountain of salty or sweet popcorn according to your desires, or chips . The cinema, it crunches!

In summer, it is played in open-air cinema, Cannes Festival style casually. We stretch a sheet at the bottom of the garden, we take out the overhead projector 📽 and we picnic in front of a cinema standard: seafood terrine and crispy baguette, ice cream, and to end the last session, a good hot chocolate and marshmallows, atmosphere Camping ...

And on the cinematographic menu?… We advise gourmets Julie & Julia, a little-known film starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. Julie gives herself a year to create the 524 French recipes in the reference book by Julia Child, an American who learned to cook at the mythical Cordon Bleu in Paris in the 50s. A film that humorously explains the probable origin of the reputation of our gastronomy in the USA, with rather comical culinary moments!

And for the end of the Cannes Culinary Festival, the family will not miss a monument of tenderness and visual entertainment: Ratatouille 🎬…
