Which tea for which time of day?

hour-of-the-1 Which tea for which time of day?

Whether you are black tea, green tea or white tea, drink tea has many health benefits, but not all teas enjoy the same way throughout the day. So, when to drink tea?… Here are some tips for choosing the most suitable tea for each moment of your day.

morning tea

To start the day off right, choose an invigorating and energizing tea. Overall, all teas are suitable for breakfast, it depends above all… on your mood when you get out of bed! If you prefer a gentle awakening, opt for a white tea or an Oolong tea; jasmine or mint green teas, very fine and aromatic, have an energizing and invigorating flavor. But the undisputed ally of a tonic awakening is black tea !

Very rich in antioxidants that activate blood circulation, black tea brings the necessary boost to wake up. We therefore prefer powerful black teas (Earl Gray, English Breakfast, Ceylon or Darjeeling) which can be enjoyed in the purest English tradition, with a cloud of milk and a savory breakfast. Sweet lovers will prefer a black tea from Yunnan, with a good taste of honey and stimulating floral notes, or flavored black teas with gourmet flavors of chocolate or vanilla.

Drinking tea with breakfast is beneficial, but avoid drinking it on an empty stomach : the tea stimulates the stomach and you might feel a little smeared. In the morning, opt for the same black teas or green teas that improve concentration, such as Matcha tea: perfect before a meeting! Around 11 a.m., for brunch or to wait until lunch, choose instead typical teas, such as Lapsang Souchong with an intense smoky taste, fermented Pu Erh tea, or Oolong with a woody flavor.

Lunch time tea

After lunch, a hot drink helps digestion and helps fight the urge to take a nap. Energizing green teas will speed up your digestion and allow you to have fishing all afternoon. Orient yourself to flavored green teas to plants, such as mint green tea, with rosemary or lemon, or towards Oolong and Pu Erh teas with a woody taste. These teas provide an intense feeling of freshness and effectively drain the liver. To take advantage of all their digestive virtues, consume them 20 minutes after the meal.

After-meal tea is fine, but have you ever tried drink tea while eating ? If the practice is not widespread in France, it is however common in Asian countries. Just like wine, the flavors of tea go well with the dishes:

  • Green tea enjoys with fish,
  • White tea et jasmine tea go wonderfully with white meats,
  • The powerful aromas of black tea go perfectly with red meat,
  • The subtle flavors of oolong tea or the slight taste of bergamot Earl Gray tea are wonderful with desserts.

The culinary experience is excellent, but beware: consumed regularly during meals, tea limits the absorption of iron by the body, which can lead to anemia, especially in people following a vegetarian or vegan diet. Watch your intake and compensate with foods rich in vitamin C, which fix vegetable iron.

afternoon tea

In the afternoon, when the pace of work is intense, it is not uncommon to feel a little slack; this drop in diet can also be linked to a lack of sugar. In short, it's time to take a break, it's snack time! Afternoon tea is really a moment of pleasure and relaxation, so be attentive to your desires.

Against the big blow of fatigue, favor an energizing black tea, such as a Darjeeling with fine and delicate aromas; green tea enthusiasts will appreciate the toasted bread notes of Sencha with a hint of honey. Otherwise… make way for gourmet teas! Taste for example a red fruit flavored tea or caramel, accompanied by a few biscuits or dried fruit.

At the end of the afternoon, have your snack with a light tea that won't disturb your sleep, like white tea, with a delicate floral flavor. And if you're tempted to drink tea in the evening, choose a herbal tea with soothing properties, orange blossom or lime blossom, or even an infusion of rooibos. Generally called red tea, rooibos is actually a South African shrub devoid of theine; its comforting flavor is reminiscent of tea without causing insomnia. These drinks can be enjoyed throughout the day.

Now you know which tea to drink depending on the time of day! Be careful not to exceed one liter of tea per day, or 4 nice cups of tea, and limit to two cups a day if it is black tea. Good tea!
