Embark on our three-masted ship and let's sail together on the delicious history of rum punch!

Rum punch, an old pirate story

Yes, rum punch is above all a pirate story. This is often the case when there is rum… 🥴 Before leaving to skim the seas, the pirates prepared a drink made from sugar and tafia – the ancestor of rum – which they stored in a 500 liter barrel baptized puncheon. The punch would then have found its name. In the French Antilles, plantation owners garnished this mixture with fruit juice, which then took the name of punch planter. The English sailors would then have added tea and cinnamon from India to make it an exotic drink very popular in 17th century England... But the legend of pirate punch remained. At Quai Sud, we raise the colors of the pirate flag 🏴‍☠️ with our beautiful bottles in the shape of a skull ! Inside, you will find spicy punches at 17%, or spiced with rum from Guadeloupe Marie-Galante at 40% renowned for its unique flavor. Boarding!

A new, very retro look for our rum punches

The punch has stood the test of time, and the traditional recipe is fixed with at least 1 part of citrus fruits, 1 part of sugar, 2 parts of alcohol (rum or other spirits) and 3 parts of fruit juice of your choice flavored with spices. To reduce the sweet sensation, we eat it fresh, topped with lemonade and a mountain of ice cubes 🧊. This is how the punch became very popular in the 50s and 60s. It is then prepared in advance and available at will in a punch bowl ou a fountain, trendy accessories that allow hosts to spend more time with their guests. In short, the punch is guaranteed conviviality! Quai Sud pays homage to this golden age with its ready-to-use rum punches packaged in bottles with a retro look, a return to origins that guarantees you will be available all evening for your friends. Add bubbles, ice cubes and it's ready! Flavor Caribbean ou tropical, enjoy your Quai Sud punch with Caribbean specialities.
