Arranged rum or rum spirit drink?

Fix me, these are rum spirits. Not arranged rums?... Well yes and no. European regulations require us to talk about rum spirit drink or rum punch depending on the amount of alcohol and sugar in the drink, it does not recognize the concept of Arranged rum 🤨. What to get angry with the whole Creole planet... The name of the beverage also varies according to the moment of tasting. Very sweet as an aperitif, we speak more of a rum punch; as a digestive or at any time of the day (well almost 🥴), it's a rum spirit drink. But if you prefer, you can say Arrangez-moi is an arranged rum. I promise, we won't say anything 🤫.

Where does arranged rum come from?

Arranged rum comes from the Indian Ocean. Sailors leaving for India put spiced fruits in alcohol to preserve them during the trip. This recipe, inspired by wine betsabetsa of Madagascar, later became a creole tradition in Reunion, where it was made exclusively with rum. Arranged rum was born, then it spread to the West Indies ✨. Arranged rum is made from rum of course, as well as fruit, bark, leaves and/or spices in equal quantities. Everything macerates for a minimum of one month to fully impregnate the beverage with the aromas. At Quai Sud, we choose fresh, fully ripe exotic fruits. They are then slipped into a bottle, whole or cut into generous pieces, with vanilla pods, cinnamon sticks and many other spices, in order to obtain a mixture as aromatic as it is aesthetic… Too good!

Tips for enjoying your rum Fix me

Once a rum, always a rum! Our Arrangez-moi rums can be enjoyed in all forms: with lime and ti' punch ice cubes, in the kitchen to flambé pancakes, bananas or Norwegian omelettes… And the fruit? Collect them once the bottle is empty with a skewer, and flambé!
